About this role
Forensicare is the state-wide specialist provider of adult forensic mental health services in Victoria. This Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 3 role at Dame Phyllis Frost Centre supports people in mental health recovery within a custodial setting. Deliver care practicing within a recovery framework using sound judgement to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and maintain high standards of patient care. Work in consultation with Corrections Victoria, Primary Health, and other stakeholders. Operate across the inpatient unit, reception assessments, At Risk reviews, and outreach services.
Work across community, hospital, and prison settings with curiosity and commitment to understanding unique consumer and carer needs. Requirements
- Demonstrated thorough working knowledge of current standards of practice, contemporary mental health nursing practices and relevant legislation
- Proven knowledge, skills and experience in mental health nursing
- Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery
- Demonstrated comprehensive risk assessment skills and ability to plan and implement risk management plans
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Responsibilities
- Deliver care within a custodial setting practicing within a recovery framework
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and maintain high standards of patient care
- Consult with Corrections Victoria, Primary Health, and other stakeholders
- Work across the inpatient unit, reception assessments, and At Risk reviews
- Provide outreach services across the site
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement risk management plans
