Are you passionate about helping others and making a real difference in your community’s health? As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA), you'll be essential in offering compassionate care and support to patients at University Hospitals.

Day-to-day tasks include performing basic patient care activities as delegated by the RN, such as ADLs, vital signs, I&O, 12-lead ECG, bladder scan, hygiene, and venipuncture where applicable. You will also assist with patient data collection and maintain the patient record.

Work in a variety of units including ICU, Step Down, Med/Surg, Emergency Department, and PACU with variable shifts (Days or Nights). University Hospitals offers free parking for regular status caregivers and comprehensive benefits from Day 1.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training program or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to perform patient care tasks including ADLs, vital signs, and 12-lead ECG.
  • Familiarity with using patient assistive devices such as wheelchairs and EKG equipment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic patient care tasks as delegated by the RN and assists in implementing the established plan of care.
  • Demonstrates compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and peers.
  • Follows established evidence-based prevention guidelines to promote positive patient outcomes.
  • Provides a safe environment in patient rooms and on the unit.
  • Facilitates stocking and ordering of supplies for patient care.
  • Assists with unit communication and maintains efficient operations.
  • Acts as a key resource for onboarding and training new team members.
  • Maintains patient records in written and electronic format and assists with data collection.
