In this role, utilize expert decision-making skills and clinical expertise for comprehensive telephone triage. Rank patients’ health problems by urgency, while educating and advising them. Make safe, effective, and appropriate dispositions over the phone.

TMH features a 772-bed acute care hospital as the region's only Level II Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care, and Pediatric Intensive Care. Requirements

  • Associate degree (or equivalent) in nursing
  • Two (2) years of acute care experience
  • Licensed as a registered nurse (RN) or advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in accordance with Florida Statutes, Chapter 464, including multistate compact licensure
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing (preferred)
  • Critical care, emergency center, home health, occupational health, or APRN experience (preferred)
  • Expert clinical judgment for telephone assessments
  • Knowledge of triage protocols and guidelines
  • Ability to educate patients effectively over the phone

Responsibilities

  • Utilize expert decision-making skills and clinical expertise in performing comprehensive telephone triage
  • Rank patients’ health problems according to their urgency
  • Educate and advise patients on health concerns
  • Make safe, effective, and appropriate dispositions
  • Assess symptoms and medical history via telephone using standardized protocols
  • Provide nursing advice and instructions based on triage assessment
  • Document triage interactions accurately in patient records
  • Coordinate referrals to appropriate care levels or providers
