About this role

Provides entry-level nursing functions and services to individuals and families under close supervision in a clinic or community setting. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Receives job specific training in health department programs and services.

Conducts nursing assessments and assists with community assessments and epidemiological investigations using CCSG service guidelines. Develops and implements a plan of care based upon identified health risks. Provides basic nursing care consistent with the Core Clinical Service Guide and standards of practice.

Documents services provided according to CCSG and Administrative Reference standards. Maintains confidentiality and privacy according to guidelines. Works within Purchase District Health Department under close supervision.

Develops and conducts educational counseling and teaching activities for individual clients, families, and communities. Must maintain current RN licensure and complete required annual updates. Contact Jake Hobbs at jhobbs@purchasehealth.org for more information.

Requirements

  • RN license in Kentucky or compact state
  • Provisional license in Kentucky meeting KRS 314.041 requirements and approval as Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA)
  • Must maintain current RN licensure in Kentucky or compact state
  • Must complete required annual updates
  • Ability to work under close supervision in clinic or community settings
  • Knowledge of public health nursing scope focusing on prevention and health promotion

  • Provides or assists in providing services in various assigned health department programs
