The Registered Nurse in Cardiac Surgery ICU is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts, responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care. This role requires demonstrating initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs. The nurse effectively manages patients by assuming full responsibility for assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of care.

Requirements
- Prior ICU experience required
- Cardiac surgery, heart transplant, VAD, CVVH, IABP, Impella, ECMO experience preferred
- Massachusetts Registered Nurse required
- Bachelor's Degree Nursing required
- Evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients
- Observational skills and the ability to set priorities
- Ability to function under stress
Responsibilities
- Plan and provide patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual
- Demonstrate initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for the patient with complex needs
- Assume full responsibility for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of patient care
- Manage post-operative cardiac surgery patients
- Support heart transplant and VAD patients
- Utilize devices including CVVH, IABP, Impella, and ECMO
