About this role
The Registered Nurse serves as a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts, responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in the Burn Trauma ICU. This role demands initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills for patients with complex needs. Accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care for specific patient assignments with varying acuity. Maintains continuity through clear verbal and written communication while demonstrating knowledge of adult and geriatric patient growth and development. Documents care in a manner that is clear, complete, and compliant with nursing standards.
Develops comprehensive educational plans for patients and families, along with discharge plans utilizing community resources. Interacts professionally with patients, families, and colleagues while collaborating with other disciplines. Provides a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, administering medications and performing procedures safely.
Participates actively in unit-based and organizational quality improvement programs. Evaluates the effectiveness of care plans, revising as needed to achieve outcomes. Upholds the A.N.A. code of ethics, acting as a role model and contributing to unit goals at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Requirements
- Registered professional nurse in Massachusetts
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing for newly licensed nurses
- Initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs
- Ability to effectively manage full responsibility for patient assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation
- Knowledge of growth and development of adult and geriatric patients
- Awareness of potential infection risks and utilization of universal precautions
- Demonstrates appropriate use of equipment safely and efficiently
