About this role
The Clinical Practice Nurse Expert (CPNE) for Vascular and Interventional Radiology (VIR) is a clinical leader responsible for advancing nursing practice, promoting evidence-based care, and ensuring high-quality outcomes in the VIR procedural setting. The role involves 60% clinical and 40% educational work as part of the procedural team. Reports directly to the RN Supervisor and indirectly to the Operations manager.
Serves as an expert resource for clinical standards, patient care protocols, staff education, and professional development. Collaborates with leadership, interdisciplinary teams, and educators to support clinical excellence, patient safety, and regulatory compliance. Fosters a culture of continuous improvement in both adult and pediatric populations.
Provides nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members for age/developmentally appropriate care. Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through patient privacy and professional behavior.
Demonstrates function in a professional practice model through shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, and professional development. Coordinates effective delivery of patient care services through care management principles. Identifies clinical priorities to improve patient outcomes and promotes a healthy work environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN required)
- 4 years progressive work experience
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the state of South Carolina or compact state
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Excellent collaboration and consultation skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office
- Familiar with quality improvement methodology
