Requirements

  • Massachusetts Registered Nurse required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required (experience in lieu accepted)
  • Prior ICU experience required
  • Cardiac surgery, heart transplant, VAD, CVVH, IABP, Impella, ECMO experience preferred
  • Evidence of basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients
  • Observational skills and ability to set priorities
  • Ability to function under stress
  • Effective skills in teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care
  • Demonstrate initiative, knowledge and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs
  • Assume full responsibility for the assessment, plan, implementation and evaluation of patient care
  • Manage post-operative cardiac surgery patients requiring advanced hemodynamic support
  • Monitor and titrate vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and continuous renal replacement therapy
  • Care for heart transplant and ventricular assist device (VAD) patients
  • Support intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), Impella, and ECMO therapies
