About this role
The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts, responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care. This role in the Burn Trauma ICU requires demonstrating initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs. The nurse assumes full responsibility for assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, reporting to a designated nurse manager.
Accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care for specific patient assignments, the nurse sets priorities for patients with varying acuity. Maintains continuity through clear verbal and written communication while demonstrating knowledge of adult and geriatric patient growth and development. Documents care clearly, completely, and in compliance with nursing standards.
Develops comprehensive plans of care, education, and discharge based on assessments, health team input, and records. Evaluates plan effectiveness, revises as needed, and participates in unit-based quality improvement programs. Administers medications, performs procedures, and uses equipment safely while utilizing universal precautions.
Interacts professionally with patients, families, and colleagues, collaborating with other disciplines and upholding the A.N.A. code of ethics. Requirements
- Registered professional nurse in Massachusetts
- Demonstrates initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs
- Ability to effectively manage patients by assuming full responsibility for assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation
- Appropriate knowledge of growth and development of the adult and geriatric patient
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing for newly licensed nurses
- Demonstrates awareness of potential/actual risks of infection and modes of transmission
- Utilizes universal precautions in nursing practice
- Upholds the A.N.A. code of ethics
