About this role

This is a 6-month assignment as a Staff Nurse in the Endoscopy department, with a Monday through Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM and no on-call requirements. Candidates should be available to start as soon as possible.

You will be responsible for assessing, formulating the plan of care, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for the assigned endoscopy patient population. You will also educate patients and families on the plan of care and collaborate with multidisciplinary departments to coordinate the most efficient care.

The role operates within a shared governance model founded on partnership, equity, accountability, and ownership, empowering interdisciplinary decision-making for excellent patient care. Good Samaritan is a 4-time designated Magnet facility, offering a world-class environment.

You will participate in perioperative services nursing and hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities and the Unit Based Council. You are also encouraged to pursue lifelong education by staying current on professional changes and best practices within healthcare.

As part of the team, you will provide education and be a resource to other staff members, students, and new orientees. Maintaining financial responsibility to help stay within the unit's budget is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license from the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Must be available to start as soon as possible for this 6-month assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient assessments in a systematic and organized manner to provide high quality care and safe outcomes.
  • Educate and implement the patient's plan of care, sharing it with the patient and family.
  • Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary departments to coordinate appropriate care for endoscopy patients.
  • Follow all relevant specialty, federal recommendations and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in perioperative services nursing and hospital-wide Performance Improvement activities and Unit Based Council.
  • Provide direction and collaborate with team members to support a healthy work environment.
  • Pursue lifelong education by staying current on professional changes and best practices.
  • Provide education and be a resource to other staff members, students, and new orientees.
