As a Plasma Center Nurse - EMT, you support plasma center operations. Every day, donors motivate you while high-quality plasma becomes life-changing medicines.

You determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). You evaluate donor reactions and manage adverse events as outlined in SOPs. You review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable findings.

You report to the Plasma Center Manager for operational guidance and the Center Physician for medical issues. A commitment to customer service and quality is expected in this environment. You provide center-level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) under BioLife Medical Affairs guidance.

Requirements

  • Current EMT certification
  • Familiarity with regulations of the plasma collection industry
  • Ability to perform donor physical examinations and blood testing
  • Knowledge of donor eligibility criteria and adverse event management
  • Experience following SOPs for medical emergencies
  • Understanding of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) support

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions and manage adverse events at the facility as outlined in SOPs
  • Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable test results
  • Follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings to donors or guidance on medical/technical issues
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required
