About this role

This role is more than a career; it is a calling to provide specialized infusion and vascular access care. As a Registered Nurse in the Infusion/Specialty unit at SSM Health DePaul Hospital, you will perform the primary functions of assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients.

Day-to-day, you will support patient care by assessing and addressing the needs of the patient and family, working collaboratively with interprofessional team members to resolve problems and concerns. You will individualize and implement the plan of care, with a strong focus on vascular access, including intravenous insertion and assessment of peripheral and central lines.

You will utilize equipment such as point-of-care ultrasound and intravenous infusion pumps, and demonstrate proper interpretation of department-specific policies and laboratory results to safely manage patient needs. The role involves monitoring and recording patient care, communicating patient condition, and taking appropriate actions in response to unanticipated changes.

Requirements

Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
No experience required.
Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration or Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State.
Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN) - Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or equivalent.
Ability to complete intravenous insertion and assessment to include peripheral and central line access.
Ability to utilize point-of-care ultrasound equipment and intravenous infusion pumps.

Responsibilities

Supports the care of the patient and assesses and addresses the needs of the patient/family.
Works collaboratively with other interprofessional team members in resolving patient/family problems, concerns, and issues.
Collaborates with other departments as needed to establish the patient/family treatment plan.
Individualizes, implements, evaluates, or updates the plan of care and patient educational needs regarding vascular access.
Completes intravenous insertion and assessment to include peripheral and central line access.
Utilizes equipment such as point-of-care ultrasound equipment and intravenous infusion pumps as appropriate.
Demonstrates proper interpretation of department-specific policies and related laboratory results to safely manage specific patient needs.
Implements, monitors, and records patient care and communicates patient condition as appropriate, taking appropriate actions to unanticipated changes in patient condition.
