About this role

SSM Health Rehabilitation Hospital, a joint venture with Select Medical, seeks a Wound Care Nurse (RN) to lead our wound care program. This full-time role offers a Monday through Friday schedule with 8-hour days and a $15,000 sign-on bonus with no repayment commitment.

In this role, you will establish standards of care across the hospital and programs, collaborating with Select Medical wound care experts. You will develop and deploy evidence-based clinical protocols and algorithms to optimize wound management outcomes, including updating the product formulary.

You will set competencies for clinicians, create educational modules for internal and external use, and analyze wound patterns to drive performance improvement activities. Working under the Director of Education, you will coordinate nursing education projects related to skin, wound, and ostomy management.

Requirements

  • Valid State RN License required
  • Previous hospital nursing experience
  • Experience in wound care or related clinical area
  • Ability to develop and implement evidence-based clinical protocols
  • Strong collaboration skills with medical leadership and interdisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency in creating educational materials and conducting training
  • Analytical skills to evaluate wound patterns and drive performance improvement

Responsibilities

  • Establish a leadership role in the wound care program, setting standards of care across hospitals and programs in collaboration with Select Medical wound care experts.
  • Develop and deploy evidence-based clinical protocols and algorithms to support best clinical outcomes for wound management, including updating the product formulary.
  • Establish competencies for clinicians regarding wound care and coordinate competency evaluation and testing for professional staff.
  • Collaborate with medical leadership on wound care initiatives, research questions, and outcome measures to drive program innovation and excellence.
  • Develop educational modules for wound care for internal and external education, including teaching tools for patients and families.
  • Analyze patterns of wounds across programs and hospitals, identifying targeted performance improvement activities to improve wound outcomes and mitigate pressure sore development.
  • Coordinate all educational initiatives and activities with the Education department to support overall objectives and goals.
  • Maintain a database to track staff education, competency, and credentials, and use it to plan future educational activities.
