The Registered Nurse effectively manages patients by assuming full responsibility for assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Demonstrates ability to care for complex cases in the Cardiac Surgery ICU environment. Directly accountable to a designated nurse manager or supervisor.

Requirements

  • Prior ICU experience required
  • Cardiac surgery, heart transplant, VAD, CVVH, IABP, Impella, ECMO experience preferred
  • Massachusetts Registered Nurse required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required
  • Evidence of basic analytic thinking to care for a group of patients
  • Observational skills and ability to set priorities
  • Ability to function under stress with interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care
  • Assume full responsibility for assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
  • Demonstrate initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs
  • Manage post-cardiac surgery patients including heart transplant and VAD cases
  • Monitor and support patients on CVVH, IABP, Impella, and ECMO
  • Set priorities and function effectively under stress in the ICU setting
  • Apply hospital standards in teamwork, communication, and time management
