About this role

Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. We are currently seeking a Staff Nurse to join our Med/ Surg/ Ortho unit, a 0.9 FTE with 12-hour night shifts and every 3rd weekend.

Under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care within the Patient and Family Centered Care model. Responsibilities include protecting, promoting, and optimizing health, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through treatment of the human response.

The nurse partners with the patient, their family, and significant others to deliver individualized care. Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care is a key part of the role, ensuring comprehensive support for each patient's unique needs.

Requirements

  • Two years of inpatient hospital patient nursing experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid Registered Nurse license issued by the State of Minnesota.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and every 3rd weekend.
  • Familiarity with patient and family centered care model.

Responsibilities

  • Protect, promote, and optimize health through direct nursing care.
  • Prevent illness and injury by implementing safety protocols and patient education.
  • Alleviate suffering through the treatment of the human response to illness.
  • Partner with the patient, their family, and significant others in care decisions.
  • Document interventions and create an individualized plan of care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered, monitoring for side effects.
  • Assess and monitor patient vital signs, pain levels, and overall condition.
  • Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
