As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant on the G90 Urology Medical/Surgical Unit, you will care for post-operative urology and overflow surgical patients, focusing on pain control, return of bowel and bladder function, DVT prevention, and ambulation.
Your day-to-day involves assisting with vital signs, patient transfers, personal care, and activities of daily living under RN supervision. You will also perform point-of-care testing, dressing changes, apply external monitoring devices, and remove urinary Foley catheters while reporting any changes in patient condition to the nursing team.
You will work alongside passionate and dedicated caregivers in a unit where patients range from young adult to geriatric, with the most common population around 65 years old. Procedures include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with urinary diversion.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association
- Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program or equivalent
- Ability to assist with patient transfers and physical mobility
- Comfortable working rotating day/night shifts and weekends as needed
- Attention to detail and ability to report changes in patient condition accurately
Responsibilities
- Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, including vital signs, weight, assisting with personal care and activities of daily living
- Perform patient transfers and transport within the facility
- Carry out point-of-care testing and apply external monitoring devices
- Assist with dressing changes and remove urinary Foley catheters
- Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN
- Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly
- Support patient mobility and ambulation to promote recovery and prevent complications
- Measure and record intake and output as directed
