As an OR Trauma Nurse, you will act as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code for Nurses.

In this role, you will effectively delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members while assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes. Your day-to-day involves assessing learning needs and implementing teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other disciplines.

You will serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team, communicating and managing nursing team resources properly. This environment requires sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity in all interactions, alongside a commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction and employee morale.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to be detail oriented
  • Good time management skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment and be self-directed
  • Good interpersonal, leadership, and delegation skills and ability to demonstrate good judgement and supervise or manage others
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications

Responsibilities

  • Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care for trauma surgical patients
  • Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family, and other groups or disciplines
  • Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly
  • Serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team
  • Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and appropriate communication of procedures
