About this role
The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care. This role requires demonstrating initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs. The nurse assumes full responsibility for assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, reporting to a designated nurse manager.
Accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care for specific patient assignments. Sets priorities when organizing care for patients with varying acuity and maintains continuity through clear verbal and written communication. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development for adult and geriatric patients.
Documents patient care clearly, completely, and in compliance with nursing standards. Develops comprehensive plans for care, education, and discharge, utilizing appropriate resources and evaluating effectiveness to achieve desired outcomes. Administers medications, performs procedures, and uses equipment safely while applying universal precautions.
Interacts professionally with patients, families, and colleagues while collaborating with other disciplines. Participates in unit-based quality management, improvement programs, and organizational committees. Upholds the A.N.A. code of ethics and contributes to unit goals and objectives.

Requirements
- Registered Nurse licensed in Massachusetts
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing for newly licensed nurses
- Demonstrates initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills for patients with complex needs
- Ability to effectively manage full responsibility for patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Appropriate knowledge of growth and development of adult and geriatric patients
- Awareness of potential risks of infection and modes of transmission
- Utilizes universal precautions in nursing practice
- Interacts professionally with patients, families, and colleagues
