About this role
This role is an opportunity for an innovative experienced community Mental Health Nurse to join the Mental Health Education team at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne. The Community based CNE will be responsible for providing clinical education and mentorship to a multi-disciplinary workforce with a focus in the adult mental health community services.
The CNE will work in collaboration with the Education Team Leader and Senior Psychiatric Nurse to support staff across SVMH service. Education programs are developed that promote best practice with a focus on strengths and recovery oriented practice.

The Mental Health service is comprised of inpatient adult and older persons, residential based rehabilitation and a variety of community teams that address the needs of Mental Health across the spectrum.

Requirements
- Experienced Mental Health Nurse with focus in adult mental health community services
- Registered as a Psychiatric Nurse (RPN 4 NP75-NP77 classification)
- Ability to develop and evaluate programs that support existing and expanding workforce
- Experience providing clinical education and mentorship to a multi-disciplinary workforce
- Knowledge of recovery oriented practice and the Strengths Model
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and workshops for the mental health workforce, inspiring their learning in key areas of service development and consumer experience.
- Shape and assess training programs for our workforce, contributing to their growth and development.
- Play an active role in enhancing nursing education and practice by providing insights to internal and external committees, shaping the future of the field.
- Bridge the gap between theory and practice by guiding undergraduates, graduates, and postgraduates through practical experiences in clinical settings.
- Lead structured educational programs for undergraduates in psychiatric nursing placements, offering supervision and guidance for their academic journey.
