About this role
This role works in a collaborative model including residents, fellows, attendings, and staff who care for emergency medicine patients across the organization's hospital network. Under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician, the provider assumes responsibility for primary and urgent medical management.
Day-to-day duties include emergency stabilization of critically ill patients, planning and evaluating medical and nursing care, and providing patient education and discharge planning. The role also involves teaching residents and medical students as part of the academic mission.
The provider works in association with PCCs, staff nurses, and discharge coordinators to ensure coordinated care. Strong interpersonal skills and working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies are essential for success in this team-oriented environment.

Requirements
- Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant in the state of practice.
- Master’s degree in Nursing OR Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences (or graduate of an approved PA Training Program).
- Family, Adult/Geriatric, or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner ANCC or AANPCP Certified (for NP candidates); NCCPA Certified (for PA candidates).
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association.
- Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing or State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval; proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
- Reliable transportation to travel throughout and between facilities.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and evaluate medical and nursing care for emergency medicine patients.
- Assume responsibility for primary and urgent medical management in the emergency setting.
- Perform emergency stabilization of all critically ill patients.
- Teach residents and medical students as part of the collaborative care model.
- Contribute to staff development and education initiatives.
- Provide patient education and facilitate discharge planning.
- Work under the supervision of the Medical Director or approved staff physician.
