About this role

Under the direction of the Emergency Department director, manager, and charge nurses, this position encompasses the provision and management of emergency patient care through implementation of the nursing process. The role involves delegation to and supervision of licensed and unlicensed personnel, as well as coordination of interdisciplinary care.

Day-to-day responsibilities include triaging and treating patients in a fast-paced emergency setting, using monitoring equipment, smart IV pumps, rapid infusers, and blood warmers. The nurse must effectively manage, prioritize, and delegate patient care while completing work assignments and other duties as assigned.

This role is part of a collaborative team within the Emergency Department at San Antonio Regional Hospital, where nurses work alongside charge nurses and support staff to deliver high-quality, time-sensitive care. The environment demands strong multitasking abilities and the capacity to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.

Requirements

  • Current active California Registered Nurse license
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS card
  • AHA ACLS certification
  • AHA PALS or ENPC certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification prior to completing department orientation
  • Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification within 4 months of hire or transfer into the Emergency Department
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
  • Above average computer skills
