About this role
This role establishes and leads the planning, directing, administering, and evaluating of Occupational Health Services at Sysco's on-site clinic in Jessup, MD. The position works closely with Operations, Human Resources, Safety, and Finance to support the company's overall Health, Safety, and Environmental goals and objectives.
Day-to-day responsibilities include managing the on-site health service clinic, developing annualized budgetary projections, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, and state nurse practice regulations. The nurse also provides first responder care for onsite accidents and oversees the Medical Emergency Response Team.
Collaboration across departments is key to reducing employee lost time and containing costs through case management and transitional duty programs. The role supervises drug and alcohol testing programs, including specimen collection and breath alcohol testing, and trains managers and associates on occupational health topics.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland, consistent with State Nurse Practice Act
- Knowledge of OSHA mandated programs, record-keeping standards, and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and drug/alcohol testing procedures
- Experience in occupational health, case management, or workers' compensation management
- Ability to collaborate with Operations, Human Resources, Safety, and Finance departments
- Certification in drug screen collection and breath alcohol testing (or ability to obtain)
Responsibilities
- Establish and manage an onsite health service clinic
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory healthcare requirements, OSHA, DOT, and other agencies
- Supervise the Drug Testing Program (DOT and Non-DOT) and collect drug screen specimens according to NIDA guidelines
- Plan and implement training programs for managers and associates on Bloodborne Pathogens, Ergonomics, Reasonable Suspicion, and other occupational health topics
- Execute clinical services and direct nursing care consistent with the scope of State Nurse Practice Acts for occupational and non-occupational injury/illness
- Practice case management from the onset of work-related injury evaluation through workers' compensation, disability, absence management, and return-to-work evaluation
- Oversee the administration of the occupational injury program, including working with external healthcare providers and insurance carriers to reduce lost time and contain costs
- Manage a transitional duty program for medical conditions requiring specific work restrictions
