About this role

Fonemed is recruiting full time remote Registered Nurses to join our team. Experienced and dependable Registered Nurses provide telephone triage and health advice to callers across the United States remotely from home. Nurses use world renowned Schmitt-Thompson protocols to deliver nursing care advice virtually to patients.

Calls vary greatly in subject matter and complexity, including questions on medical conditions, medications, and diagnostic tests. Registered Nurses offer patient support by addressing medical questions and concerns. Nurses must be attentive listeners with strong critical thinking and clinical assessment abilities to make independent decisions.

All calls are documented electronically and recorded, with nurses promptly completing confidential medical records per company standards. A private HIPAA compliant home office with high-speed internet and personal computer equipment is required. Full compliance with FONEMED policies and procedures, including HIPAA privacy requirements, is essential.

Schedules include shift work across mornings, days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, with major needs between 06:00am ET and 22:00pm ET. Full time requires 32-40 hours per week, with part time considered based on availability. Nurses work every other weekend and can pick up additional shifts at their discretion.

Requirements

  • Must have compact nursing license
  • California license an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, preferably in ER/Urgent Care, Adult, Pediatric, OB/GYN, Orthopedic, Ambulatory Care
  • Completion of a recognized Nursing program
  • Private HIPAA compliant home office with high-speed internet connectivity (wired/ethernet highly recommended)
  • Provide own computer equipment including computer or laptop, second monitor, keyboard, mouse, wired USB headset
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment abilities
  • Ability to make decisions independently

Responsibilities

  • Provide telephone triage and advice to callers to assist in making timely medical decisions
  • Exercise clinical judgement with protocols to arrive at appropriate disposition and level of care
  • Promptly complete confidential medical records as per company documentation standards
  • Provide clear and concise information and direction during patient encounters
  • Document all calls electronically
  • Address patient questions on medical conditions, medications, and diagnostic tests
