This RN administers diligent care to surgical patients in pre and post-operative settings using monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment. The PACU RN provides care for patients recovering from general, regional, and local anesthesia. Discharge care and instructions are given to patients and caregivers prior to unit discharge.

Requirements
- Current RN license with the State of Iowa
- Knowledge of pre-operative patient preparation and assessment
- Experience in post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) recovery
- Ability to perform continuous reassessment of surgical patients
- Familiarity with general, regional, and local anesthesia recovery
- Skills in perioperative nursing responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Administer diligent care to surgical patients in pre and post-operative settings using monitoring, assessment, intervention, and continuous reassessment
- Provide care for post-operative patients recovering from general, regional, and local anesthesia
- Provide discharge care and instructions to the patient and their caregivers prior to discharge from the unit
- Perform perioperative RN responsibilities as directed by the Nursing Director
- Monitor vital signs and level of consciousness in PACU recovery
- Assess and manage pain and nausea in post-anesthesia patients
- Evaluate readiness for discharge using standardized criteria
