About this role

As a Mental Health Nurse Grade 3 at Alfred Health's Child and Youth Mental Health service, you will provide clinical assessment and intervention, case-management, and single session or brief therapy for children and young people experiencing emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties and their families.

You will also be responsible for providing discipline specific consultation and assessment to clients and clinical services both internal and external to ICYAMHWS. This role involves collaboration with a range of professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

The Alfred Infant Child and Youth Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is a specialist, multi-disciplinary and intensive care mental health service. It incorporates lived and living experience of family peer specialists and youth peer workers, and the team values respect, partnership, and integrity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent (or Bachelor of Nursing plus approved postgraduate qualification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing).
  • Registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA.
  • Demonstrated capability in providing a full range of mental health interventions at a senior level.
  • Experience working with children, young people, and their families in a mental health setting.
  • Understanding of family-focused and systemic approaches to mental health care.
  • Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical assessment and intervention, case-management, and single session or brief therapy for children and young people and their families.
  • Deliver discipline specific consultation and assessment to internal and external clinical services.
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team including family peer specialists and youth peer workers.
  • Support families and carers as part of a systemic, family-focused approach.
  • Participate in regular professional development and supervision sessions.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to reflective practice.
