Requirements

Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Master's degree in nursing
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Current New York State RN and NP licenses
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
A minimum of 2 years of experience practicing as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (preferred)
Experience working with the child and adolescent behavioral health population in an inpatient setting (preferred)
National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (preferred)

Responsibilities

Deliver outstanding psychiatric services to patients on inpatient units
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of children and adolescents to evaluate behavioral health needs
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to determine the most appropriate care setting and treatment approach
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with regulations and best practices
Educate patients and families about behavioral health conditions and therapeutic options
Document clinical assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in patient records
Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care after hospitalization
