Requirements
- Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
- Master's degree in nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current New York State RN and NP licenses
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- A minimum of 2 years of experience practicing as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (preferred)
- Experience working with the child and adolescent behavioral health population in an inpatient setting (preferred)
- National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding psychiatric services to patients on inpatient units
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of children and adolescents to evaluate behavioral health needs
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to determine the most appropriate care setting and treatment approach
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and evidence-based practices
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with regulations and best practices
- Educate patients and families about behavioral health conditions and therapeutic options
- Document clinical assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in patient records
- Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care after hospitalization
