In this role, you will lead and deliver a comprehensive, on-site Occupational Health (OH) service encompassing health surveillance, biological monitoring, drug and alcohol screening, fitness-for-work assessments, case management, and health promotion.

You will collaborate closely with the Barrow Mill Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) team to develop, implement, and continuously improve health-related programmes and procedures. You will also liaise effectively with third-party clinical providers, including OH Physicians, to ensure high-quality delivery and coordination of Mill-based OH services.

Operating under the clinical governance and professional supervision of the global Occupational Health Centre of Excellence (OH CoE), you will actively participate in clinical audit, governance processes, training initiatives, and continuous professional development. You will provide expert OH guidance to the local site Leadership Team on all matters relating to the interaction between employee health and work, utilising evidence-based clinical practice alongside sound legal and commercial judgement.

You will work with the Mill EHS Team to help identify potential health hazards, participate in the assessment and control of risk, and manage fitness for task and health surveillance programmes in line with local and global standards. Requirements

  • Registered on Part 3 of the Nursing & Midwifery Council Register (UK – Specialist Community Public Health Nurse).
  • Hold a second level professional qualification in Occupational Health Nursing.
  • Competent in the delivery of a full suite of occupational health services including health surveillance, biological monitoring, drug and alcohol screening, fitness-for-work assessments, case management, and health promotion.
  • Ability to provide expert OH guidance using evidence-based clinical practice alongside sound legal and commercial judgement.
  • Experience collaborating with EHS teams and third-party clinical providers to coordinate OH services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist OH advice on the potential health impacts arising from physical, chemical, biological, and psychosocial hazards.
  • Provide expert OH guidance to the local site Leadership Team on all matters relating to the interaction between employee health and work.
