About this role

Lowell General Hospital seeks an experienced LPN Scrub Nurse for the Operating Room. This entry-level position practices under surgical team supervision to deliver patient care throughout the perioperative experience. Assists surgeons by providing instruments and maintaining organized operating room equipment.

Works according to department policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives. Functions professionally as LPN Scrub Nurse across all stages of surgical procedures. Maintains strict aseptic technique during setup, draping, and surgery while scrubbing on cases.

Performs counts with RN circulator, manages sterile field medications and specimens per policy. Assists in patient positioning, transport, and room turnover when not scrubbing. Reports equipment issues to Charge Nurse or manager and supports quality improvement activities.

Day shift starts at 7:00am for 40 hours weekly with 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts and required on-call for weeknights, weekends, holidays. Requirements

  • Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Operating Room policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain aseptic technique in perioperative setting

Responsibilities

  • Functions as LPN Scrub Nurse on wide variety of surgical procedures
  • Maintains strict aseptic technique during set-up, patient draping, and surgical procedure
  • Scrubs on surgical cases and organizes instrumentation while participating in surgical counts
  • Selects and prepares instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical cases
  • Performs counts with RN circulator according to Operating Room policy
  • Manages medications on sterile field and surgical specimens per policy
  • Assists in patient positioning, moving, transporting, and room turnover activities
  • Participates in quality improvement, continuing education, and emergency preparedness
