About this role

Aspen Medical is seeking Operating Theatre Nurses to provide a high standard of nursing care at St James Hospital. Nurses monitor and care for patients still under the effects of anesthesia. The role requires professional execution in accordance with hospital protocols and consultant preferences.

Ensure all necessary equipment is available for surgical procedures prior to surgery. Maintain the theatre and its areas to required standards before, during, and after surgery while preserving a sterile environment. Assist surgeons with draping, instrumentation, and enforce the World Health Organisation’s Safe Surgical Checklist.

Monitor patients’ vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and temperature; administer oxygen and suctioning. Assess for bleeding, manage pain to ensure comfort levels. Administer intravenous, IM, subcutaneous, PCA, and epidural therapies.

Transfer verbal and written patient information to the ward nurse responsible for the patient. Maintain and provide necessary documentation as appropriate. Work in a professional operating theatre environment at St James Hospital utilizing strong organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Recognized degree in nursing
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse with the Nurse and Midwifery Council of Malta
  • Extensive knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Responsible and compassionate
  • Good time management
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and provide necessary documentation as appropriate
