About this role

The Senior Community Health Nurse (TB Nurse) is responsible for delivering comprehensive tuberculosis case management services across community, clinic, home, and hospital settings. This role ensures thorough assessment, promotes treatment adherence, conducts contact investigations, provides education, and coordinates care for individuals with TB infection or disease.

Daily responsibilities include tuberculosis screening, contact investigation, and directly observed therapy in community and home settings. You will also provide culturally appropriate education and counseling to clients, families, and healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience in public health or community health nursing.
  • Knowledge of tuberculosis screening, treatment, and contact investigation protocols.
  • Ability to work independently in diverse settings including clinics, homes, and hospitals.
  • Strong cultural competency and ability to provide education to diverse populations.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for home visits.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tuberculosis screening including evaluation and follow-up of contacts to active TB cases.
  • Provide culturally appropriate TB education and counseling to clients, families, contacts, community partners, and healthcare providers.
  • Perform home visits to assess living conditions and deliver directly observed therapy (DOT).
  • Coordinate comprehensive tuberculosis case management across community, clinic, home, and hospital settings.
  • Ensure treatment adherence and conduct contact investigations.
  • Function independently while adhering to established state and local protocols approved by the Florida Department of Health.
