About this role

Priory Hospital Barnt Green offers acute mental health and psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) services for 23 males and females. This full-time night shift role is based on the PICU ward and requires a Mental Health Nurse with 6-12 months post registration experience.

You will join the team on the PICU unit working nights only. In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.

Requirements

  • Hold current professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) along with Mental Health.
  • Have knowledge of NMC guidelines, requests and professional practices.
  • Provide evidence of post registration continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and commitment to change, improvement and quality.
  • Have 6-12 months post registration experience (this role is not suitable for newly qualified nurses or preceptorship nurses).

Responsibilities

  • Join the team on the PICU unit working nights only.
  • Play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans.
  • Ensure dignity, respect, and high standards of care for all patients.
  • Conduct regular observations and monitoring of patients' mental and physical state through the night.
  • Administer and manage medications according to prescribed treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to support patient progress and discharge planning.
