About this role

Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned in the Family-Centered Care Nursery. Focuses on delivering high-quality care during night shifts.

Assesses patients and identifies care needs to organize appropriate interventions. Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient care while facilitating a safe environment. Administers medications as ordered and maintains accurate records of patient care.

Recognizes life-threatening situations and responds appropriately while establishing collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary staff. Functions as charge nurse when assigned and monitors quality of care using outcome-oriented indicators. Actively participates in cost containment efforts.

Adjusts care based on age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients served in the nursery. Supports patients' cultural and spiritual beliefs within medical limits. Maintains required competencies for ongoing professional performance.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required
  • Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written skills required
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients served
  • Speech, auditory, and visual acuity for patient care and communication
