In your everyday role, you prioritize, coordinate, and manage outpatient treatment of cancer-related health issues. You administer individualized care plans for chemotherapy and infusions while monitoring vitals, medications, and symptoms.

You maintain a safe environment, advocate for patients, and ensure continuity of care with consistent communications. You initiate patient and family education, contributing to the team by assisting others without being asked.

Requirements

  • Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • 18 months outpatient/inpatient oncology experience.
  • Experience administering chemotherapy and infusions.
  • Ability to monitor and execute Joint Commission infection control requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize, coordinate, and manage outpatient treatment of cancer-related health issues.
  • Administer individualized care plans for chemotherapy and infusions while monitoring patient vitals, medications, and symptoms.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Maintain and advocate a safe environment for everyone.
  • Monitor and engage with patients, families, and care team members concerning significant events or condition changes.
  • Monitor and execute Joint Commission infection control and environment of care requirements.
  • Ensure continuity of care, efficiency, consistent communications, and an exceptional patient experience.
  • Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources.
