Select Specialty Hospital in Pittsburgh is a critical illness recovery hospital focused on inpatient post-ICU services for chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing. Wound Care Nurses (RNs) deliver compassionate treatment during some of the most vulnerable moments in patients' lives.

The role centers on preserving skin integrity through targeted strategies and approved protocols while organizing weekly multidisciplinary rounds for high-risk patients with pressure ulcers and complex wounds. Hands-on care is provided for difficult and non-healing wounds.

As a key resource for the entire hospital staff, the Wound Care Nurse ensures all regulatory requirements are met and supports consistent, high-quality skin and wound management across the facility.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required.
  • One year of related experience required.
  • Valid State RN License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.
  • Complete wound care training within the first 90 days.
  • BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Preserve the integrity of the skin by implementing and monitoring skin preservation strategies.
  • Ensure all wound and skin care protocols are approved by the medical staff.
  • Organize multidisciplinary wound and skin rounds on a weekly basis for high-risk patients and patients with current pressure ulcers and other significant wounds.
  • Provide hands-on wound care for all difficult and non-healing wounds.
  • Serve as a resource to all hospital staff on issues related to wound and skin care.
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
