About this role

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Urgent Care location in Palmerton. In this role, you will deliver nursing care across the life span, assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting the effects of care for both urgent care patients and occupational health patients.

Your day-to-day work will involve providing essential medical care to patients with acute illnesses or injuries, as well as performing physicals, drug screens, and injury care for occupational health patients. You will assist physicians with procedures, evaluate patient outcomes, and document care interventions in accordance with the care plan.

As a member of our patient-care team, you will work cooperatively with ancillary and nursing staff to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. You will also function as a professional role model and resource, providing guidance to co-workers and students while taking an active role in unit-based performance improvement.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of a Registered Nurse.
  • Knowledge of procedures performed in the urgent care setting and ability to assist physicians as indicated.
  • Ability to formulate collaborative plans of care and identify expected patient outcomes.
  • Ability to perform in-depth, systematic assessment of all assigned patients.
  • Ability to sit up to 2 hours per day, stand for up to 8 hours per day, and walk 6 hours per day.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, and push objects up to 75 lbs and transport patients weighing up to 400 lbs via wheelchair, bed, or stretcher with assistance when appropriate.
  • Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch and frequently stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, and climb.
  • Current Pennsylvania RN license (or eligibility to obtain) and adherence to the Pennsylvania Nurse Practice Act.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care across the life span through assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation of care effects.
  • Provide essential medical care to both urgent care patients and occupational health patients, including physicals, drug screens, and injury care.
  • Assist physicians with procedures and demonstrate knowledge of procedures performed in the urgent care setting.
  • Implement, evaluate, and document patient care interventions and effectiveness in accordance with the care plan.
  • Organize, coordinate, and prioritize patient care consistently utilizing available resources.
  • Function as a professional role model and resource person, providing guidance to co-workers and students.
  • Take an active role in unit-based performance improvement and participate in identifying unit needs and supporting unit goals.
  • Maintain responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services and continuing education programs.
