The Trauma Nurse Coordinator collaborates with the Trauma Program Manager, Medical Director, unit leaders and other members for planning, development and implementation of program goals and operations. Promotes use of evidence-based guidelines and ensures compliance with state and national standards of care. Assists with program quality management and monitors performance measures.

Demonstrates a firm clinical knowledge base in trauma or burn care and systems theory. Exhibits clinical leadership, promotes professional development, and serves as a change agent and role model. Acts as liaison between hospitals, physicians, pre-hospital providers and administration while supporting regional outreach strategy.

Provides ongoing education and training for both Legacy nursing staff and the greater communities served. Assists Legacy Health facilities in meeting requirements of trauma or burn specific regulatory bodies. Thrive as the face of wellness at Legacy in an environment of excellence in patient care.

Requirements

  • Academic degree in nursing (BSN or MSN/MN) required; MSN/MN preferred
  • Minimum one year of experience in caring for trauma patients in an acute care, emergency, or critical care unit required, three to five years preferred
  • Current applicable state RN license required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Certification in Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) or Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) strongly preferred
  • Advanced expertise in the area of responsibility
  • Firm clinical knowledge base in trauma or burn care and systems theory
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, including ability to lead by example
