About this role
MAHEC's Employee Occupational Health department is seeking a full-time RN to provide collaborative, team-based support for respiratory protection, infection prevention, workers' compensation, and employee health programs. This role is 75% administrative and 25% clinical, with a focus on communicable disease outbreak response.
Day-to-day responsibilities include leading N95 fit testing and hand hygiene programs, assessing and managing work-related injuries and illnesses, and coordinating return-to-work plans. The nurse also performs immunizations, TB screenings, and maintains employee health records including immunization and fit testing documentation.
The position works closely with employees, clinical leaders, and workers' compensation adjustors to ensure OSHA compliance and data tracking. Cross-training in new hire onboarding and providing coverage for the other Occupational Health Nurse are key aspects of the team environment.
This role offers the opportunity to develop and maintain educational materials, participate in monthly policy reviews, and adapt to pandemic surge needs. It supports workforce preservation and safety through the Employee Health call line and department inbox.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Experience leading respiratory protection programs, including N95 fit testing
- Knowledge of OSHA requirements and data tracking for work-related injuries
- Ability to perform immunizations and TB screenings
- Experience with workers' compensation processes and return-to-work coordination
- Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills for prioritizing tasks
- Ability to develop and deliver educational materials and presentations
- Cross-training capability for new hire onboarding and employee health assessments
Responsibilities
- Leads Respiratory Protection (N95 fit testing) and Hand Hygiene programs in collaboration with staff and leaders
- Assesses, manages, and reports work-related injuries and illnesses
- Communicates with employees and leaders on plan of care and return to work for communicable diseases and injury management
- Partners with workers' compensation adjustors and medical treatment sites, adhering to OSHA requirements and data tracking
- Develops, provides, and maintains educational material related to bodies of work, including occasional presentations
- Performs nursing functions such as immunizations and TB screenings for employees
- Participates in monthly policy reviews and program development, and provides recommendations for policy changes
- Responds to employee and facilities occupational health needs, including pest infestations, employee injuries, and 911 calls
