The trauma nurse specialist is a registered nurse in a leadership role who works in collaboration with clinical and administrative staff. They facilitate the highest level of care to trauma patients throughout the continuum. They handle complex issues associated with trauma research, performance improvement, and throughput.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Required)
  • RN - Registered Nurse license from Ohio Board of Nursing
  • 3-5 Years of Experience in the care of major trauma patients, demonstrated by active clinical involvement in emergency or critical care
  • Knowledgeable in the operations of trauma centers and continuity of care
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with demonstrated commitment to strong follow through
  • Ability to multi-task, self-directed, identify and prioritize workload
  • Excellent investigative/analytic skills with detail orientation
  • Documented experience in research activities and data collection
  • Strong ability to communicate verbally and in written documents
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with information technology software and network environments

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to facilitate highest level of care to trauma patients throughout the continuum
  • Address complex issues associated with trauma research
  • Manage performance improvement initiatives for trauma care
  • Optimize throughput issues to ensure efficiency and quality in trauma care delivery
  • Conduct research activities and data collection related to trauma patients
  • Lead efforts in trauma center operations and continuity of care
