About this role
In this role, you will apply public health science and nursing theory to promote, protect, and preserve the health of populations. Services are directed to individuals, families, groups, or communities across the lifespan, with a focus on preventing injuries, chronic and communicable diseases.
You will implement appropriate strategies such as immunization, address environmental issues, and promote reproductive and sexual health. Your work also supports perinatal women, their partners, infants, and families, while striving to reduce health inequities by addressing the determinants of health.
You will provide services in communities across the region and collaborate within the Population Public Health team as well as with colleagues from other programs, sectors, and organizations. This role participates in Winnipeg Integrated Services, supporting integration across the health authority and Family Services and Consumer Affairs.
Working under the direction of the Manager, Health Services, you will respectfully engage with diverse populations, including sexual and gender minorities, and all cultural, spiritual, and economic backgrounds. You will support self-determination through activities like pregnancy counselling and respecting client decisions on infant feeding, immunization, and reproductive behaviour.

Requirements
- Registered Nurse licensure in Manitoba
- Bachelor of Nursing degree or equivalent nursing education
- Experience in public health nursing or community health
- Knowledge of population health principles and determinants of health
- Ability to apply immunization protocols and communicable disease control strategies
- Skill in providing health education and counselling across the lifespan
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with diverse cultural, spiritual, and socioeconomic groups
