Provides quality of care and safety to patients and employees at Methodist Women's Hospital in Omaha, NE. Perform primary health care utilizing processes of assessment and diagnosis of health status for neonatal patients in NICU. Work varied 8, 12, and 24-hour shifts.
Collaborate with physicians and other disciplines, providing regular feedback. Order appropriate ancillary tests, derive diagnosis from assessment data, and implement treatment plans. Use telephone triage to determine patient condition and schedule consultations.
Evaluate patient response to interventions for optimal outcomes and monitor progress. Provide patient and family teaching on medication use and health prevention using adult learning principles. Incorporate research into clinical practice and seek new treatment methods.
Requirements
- Nebraska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
- National certification as Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC)
- Current Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience providing care in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Responsibilities
- Perform primary health care for patients by utilizing the processes of assessment and diagnosis of health status
- Obtain patient's medical and history information and perform physical exam to determine mental status
- Develop and implement treatment, follow-up and evaluation plans for patient outcomes
- Collaborate with physicians and other disciplines and provide regular feedback
- Order appropriate ancillary tests and derive diagnosis from assessment data
- Administer medications and immunizations and prescribe according to DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate
- Evaluate patient capabilities and limitations and monitor outcomes to document response to interventions
- Provide patient and family teaching specific to health care needs using adult learning principles
