About this role
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner manages a caseload of neonatal patients with consultation, collaboration, and medical supervision of the Neonatologist. Utilizing theoretical knowledge of neonatology, competencies include the ability to assess, conceptualize, diagnose, analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate complex problems related to the neonate. This role ensures comprehensive care for high-risk infants.
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner utilizes a case management approach, coordinating medical and nursing care for continuity of care of both the infant and their family throughout hospitalization. Performs clinical procedures and demonstrates competence in clinical skills. Focuses on leadership, communication, teaching, and research in neonatology.
Works in the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital, a 72-bed facility with a 36-bed Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 25-bed General Pediatrics Unit, and 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Located on the fifth floor of Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia. Member of the Children’s Hospital Association.

Requirements
- Masters Degree
- Registered Nurse with WV License
- Advanced Practice recognized by WV State Board of Registered Professional Nurses
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certification
- CPR
- NRP
- Minimum of up to 1 year of experience
- Minimum of 2 years full time level III NICU nursing experience
