As a Patient Care Nurse Assistant (PCNA), you'll be essential in offering compassionate care and support to patients. University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital is looking for dedicated and passionate team members.
Completes patient care activities and provides clerical support as delegated by the RN. Duties include ADLs, vital signs, I & O, 12-lead ECG, bladder scan, hygiene, and venipuncture where applicable. Familiarity with wheelchair, EKG equipment, patient assistive devices, and patient care equipment specific to assigned population.
Serves Rainbow Babies & Children’s Departments including Pediatric Cardiac Step Down, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit, Respiratory, Hematology/Oncology, Float Pool, GI, Endocrinology and General Medicine. Full time Evening and Rotating Shifts after initial Monday thru Friday 8a-5p Day-time Training.
Performs basic patient care tasks as delegated by the RN and assists in the implementation of the established plan of care. Facilitates stocking and ordering of supplies, unit communication, and efficient unit operations. Acts as a key resource for onboarding and training new team members.
Assists with patient data collection, reporting, billing functions, and chart audits as directed. Maintains the patient record in written and/or electronic format. Provides clinical, reception, communication, and guest relations support within the administrative assistant role.
Requirements
- Familiarity with using wheelchair, EKG equipment, patient assistive devices
- Knowledge of patient care equipment specific to assigned pediatric population
- Ability to perform venipuncture where applicable
- Proficiency in conducting 12-lead ECG and bladder scans
- Skill in measuring vital signs, intake and output, and activities of daily living
- Experience assisting with hygiene and patient mobility
- Competence in maintaining patient records in electronic or written format
- Ability to facilitate communication using verbal, electronic, and written techniques
Responsibilities
