Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health

Lebanon, US · Full-time · $85,000 – $115,000

About this role

The ICN is a 30-bed Intensive Care Nursery caring for acutely ill and premature infants from all over New Hampshire and parts of Vermont. Care is patient and family centered, with families encouraged to be present and participate in their baby’s care from the beginning. They are considered part of the care team.

Nurses provide care to infants who are critically ill as well as convalescing, with nurse to patient ratios that range from 1:1 to 1:3. Primary nursing is encouraged and contributes to family satisfaction. This full-time role involves 3x12-hour rotating shifts of 7a-7p and 7p-7a across weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

The unit features a two-person high-risk neonatal transport team, including an ICN RN trained to provide this level of care along with a respiratory care practitioner. Families are integral to the care team in this supportive environment. Nurses engage in autonomous practice directed by professional tenets.

Opportunities for professional growth include participation in the unit-based practice council and quality improvement projects. The Clinical Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide evidence-based care and continuously monitor practice. This ensures safe passage of patients in the best interest of populations served.
