Day to day, you will exercise independent medical judgment in psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care. You will also monitor psychotropic medications, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support crisis intervention as needed.

Requirements

Current state license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
Active DEA registration for controlled substance prescribing.
Ability to work in a correctional or secure facility setting.
Experience in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management.
Knowledge of collaborative practice agreements and state scope of practice regulations.

Responsibilities

Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care while exercising independent medical judgment.
Monitor and manage psychotropic medications, including effectiveness, side effects, and required follow-up.
Collaborate with mental health, medical, and administrative teams to ensure consistent psychiatric and mental health services.
Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call coverage.
Support crisis intervention, referrals, transfers, and emergency or involuntary treatment processes as allowed by scope of practice.
