Day to day, you will exercise independent medical judgment in psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care. You will also monitor psychotropic medications, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support crisis intervention as needed.

Requirements

  • Current state license as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • Active DEA registration for controlled substance prescribing.
  • Ability to work in a correctional or secure facility setting.
  • Experience in psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management.
  • Knowledge of collaborative practice agreements and state scope of practice regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up care while exercising independent medical judgment.
  • Monitor and manage psychotropic medications, including effectiveness, side effects, and required follow-up.
  • Collaborate with mental health, medical, and administrative teams to ensure consistent psychiatric and mental health services.
  • Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation and participate in required meetings, consultations, and on-call coverage.
  • Support crisis intervention, referrals, transfers, and emergency or involuntary treatment processes as allowed by scope of practice.
