As part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will perform psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management. Responsibilities include prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests, performing crisis intervention, and referring clients to specialized health resources.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nurse practitioner program
  • Currently licensed in New York State as a psychiatric nurse practitioner
  • Currently certified with the DEA to prescribe medication
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Excellent assessment, diagnostic and psychopharmacological treatment skills
  • Strong clinical skills working with individuals with mental illness
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team with diverse backgrounds, ages, ethnicities and sexual preferences
  • Registered as a NY State Medicaid provider with a DEA# and an individual NPI#

Responsibilities

  • Perform psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management of clients
  • Prescribe or recommend medication or other forms of treatment or related therapeutic procedures
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess clients' clinical problems and health care needs
  • Order laboratory tests and other diagnostic procedures
  • Refer clients to specialized health resources for treatment
  • Perform crisis intervention
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals, families, and staff members to ensure ongoing quality delivery of health services
  • Cover other sites if necessary
