About this role
This role is for a Clinical Nurse who is an engaged and credentialed member of the Professional Nursing Organization, responsible for autonomous practice directed by the professional tenets of practitioner, leader/decision maker, scientist and transferor. The nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide evidence-based care and continuously monitor and evaluate practice to ensure safe passage of patients in the best interest of populations served.
Day-to-day, the nurse assesses, diagnoses, identifies outcomes, plans, implements, and evaluates an individualized plan of care using critical thinking to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status. The nurse takes action to modify the plan of care or elevate to the care team as necessary, while managing interpersonal relationships and prioritizing time to optimize patient outcomes.
As part of the care delivery team, the nurse assumes authority and accountability for nursing care, appropriately delegating elements of care to others in accordance with laws, regulations, and policies. The nurse mentors colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice and the profession, and actively partners with others to effect change that produces positive outcomes through the exchange of knowledge.
This role offers the opportunity to role model a culture of inquiry by contributing to research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice at the local level. The nurse also precepts student nurses, nurse externs, nurse residents, and experienced clinical nurses, fostering growth within the healthcare team.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibility
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required upon hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) within 6 months of hire date
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire date
Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care
- Utilize critical thinking to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, modifying the plan of care or elevating to the care team as necessary
- Practice in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics to advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent, and assist patients and families in expressing self-determination
- Manage interpersonal relationships for self and with others, and mentor colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice and the profession
- Assume authority and accountability for nursing care while appropriately delegating elements of care to other members of the care delivery team
- Actively seek out the most current evidence and standards, applying and translating them to daily practice
- Communicate effectively in a variety of formats and precept student nurses, nurse externs, nurse residents, and experienced clinical nurses
- Perform other duties as required or assigned
