About this role
Join a team of neonatologists and neonatal APPs managing patients 24/7 in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Corewell Health East Dearborn Hospital. Additional duties include attendance at high-risk deliveries and transport of critically ill newborns. This role offers the opportunity to improve health, instill humanity, and inspire hope.
Under the general guidance of the medical director, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with diseases and adverse health conditions following written guidelines. You will assess physical and psychosocial status, recognize deviations from normal, and collaborate with physicians on treatment plans.
You will work alongside neonatologists and other advanced practice providers in a 24/7 NICU setting. Daily multidisciplinary rounds ensure appropriate and quality care for assigned patients. You will also assist in managing family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of care.

Requirements
- Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies with Neonatal specialization from an accredited institution.
- Current certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) with neonatal certification.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Michigan.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to work a combination of 12-hour and 24-hour shifts including on-call coverage.
Responsibilities
- Assess the physical and psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies.
- Recognize deviations from normal in the physical assessment and collaborate with a physician in formulating treatment plans.
- Write prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, and routine diagnostic and follow-up studies.
- Interpret and evaluate findings of studies and tests, and relay appropriate information to the collaborating physician.
- Attend high-risk deliveries and transport critically ill newborns as part of the NICU team.
- Conduct or participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds to ensure appropriate and quality care for assigned patients.
- Provide on-call coverage and perform patient triage to determine urgency of physician evaluation.
