About this role

This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide patient-centered care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at a Community Health Systems facility in Statesboro, GA. The RN coordinates and delivers high-quality care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting thorough patient assessments, administering prescribed medications, and monitoring for side effects. The RN also assists physicians during procedures, responds to medical emergencies, and participates in life-saving interventions such as CPR and code team activities.

Collaboration is key, as the RN works closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans. The role also involves advocating for the rights and needs of patients, ensuring their voices are heard and respected in care planning and delivery.

This part-time, night shift position offers the opportunity to engage in professional development to maintain clinical competency and understanding of current nursing standards. The RN will also participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and care delivery.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required.
  • Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of NICU nursing experience preferred.
  • Ability to administer intravenous medications and therapies.
  • Proficiency in managing ventilators and other life-support systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with organizational policies, protocols, and the nursing process.
  • Conducts thorough patient assessments and documents findings accurately, reporting changes in condition to the appropriate care team members.
  • Administers prescribed medications, monitors for side effects, and documents administration in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Assists physicians during procedures within the scope of documented competency and skill level.
  • Collaborates with the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on patient assessments and needs.
  • Responds to medical emergencies and participates in life-saving interventions, such as CPR and code team activities.
  • Manages complex medical equipment, including ventilators, monitoring devices, and other life-support systems in the NICU.
  • Provides patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
