About this role

The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. Supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self. Follows established policies and procedures while applying Cooper core values.

Care for infants as young as 23 weeks gestation in a 35-bed level 3 nursery set up in smaller pods holding up to 4 infants. Manage cases requiring surgical interventions and respiratory support from nasal cannula up to high frequency ventilation and nitric oxide. Support infants preparing for discharge in the Transitional nursery holding up to 12 infants.

Work within a multidisciplinary team including all Registered RNs, attending physicians, fellows, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, and Residents. Collaborate with dedicated Respiratory Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists addressing feeding issues, Unit secretaries, and Child Life Personnel. Utilize the Neonatal transport team that retrieves infants from South Jersey hospitals needing higher level care.

Requirements

  • 1 year minimum Registered Nurse experience in Pediatric Critical Care, NICU or similar units
  • Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing
  • Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers)
  • Advanced certification such as ACLS, NALS, PALS for certain specialties

  • Care for infants as young as 23 weeks gestation
  • Manage infants requiring surgical interventions
  • Provide respiratory support from nasal cannula up to high frequency ventilation and nitric oxide
  • Assist in the Neonatal transport team retrieving infants from area hospitals
  • Communicate openly with internal customers and supervisors
  • Provide excellent customer service interfacing with all levels of staff, management, and physicians
