About this role
The Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse delivers care to patients and families with needs ranging from basic to complex utilizing the nursing process. Creates a therapeutic and caring environment for patient and families. Practices consistent with the Interprofessional Practice model, ANA’s Social Policy Statement, Scope and Standards of Practice, and Nursing Code of Ethics.
Embraces and promotes change to support optimal patient outcomes and an effective professional practice environment. Involves patient/family in goal setting and planning, communicating the plan of care for input and seamless transitions across shifts. Demonstrates accountability for continued professional growth and smooth unit operations.
Work in a 16-bed Intensive Care Unit with an average census of 12 patients and Nurse-to-Patient Ratios of 1:2 (1:1 for CRRT and balloon pump care). Team includes roughly 50 employees with 2 LNAs on days and 1 on nights. Serves adults 17 and older with trauma, respiratory, surgical, neuro, sepsis, ARDS, and pulmonary conditions.
Demonstrates ability to recognize and manage rapidly changing situations. Utilizes current evidence and relevant national/specialty standards to guide practice. Shows competent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making and critical thinking skills.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred
- Two years' experience caring for patients in need of cardiovascular specialized care
- New Hampshire Registered Nurse or Compact State Registered Nurse License
- BLS and ACLS required and maintained during employment
- Pursue professional certification upon eligibility or within three years of entering specialty
- Ability to advance basic computer skills with system upgrades
